MIX it up!

hey gang! calling all music lovers... or music LOVAHS, be it as your case may be!

Last week y'all brought a certain strength to the Fever, and based on the events of this past week, I can't help but think about my friends.

NEXT WEEK'S MIX THEME will be FRIENDS.

that's right. close your eyes, and think of your best friend. ok.. open them again, cause really.. this isn't an audio blog.

anyways.. I want each of you to think of one of your closest friends, and tell me a song that reminds you of them.

maybe it's your wedding song cause you're that damn romantic that married your best friend. Maybe it's a song that you snuck out of class one time and played over and over in your crap-assed car while you drove down the shore.

YOU TELL ME.

Feel free to elaborate on your song choice, but keep in mind this ain't no love lines, folks. we won't be saying your name on the radio... just playing your song next week.

one song per commenter, please.. and ONE SONG ONLY.

by the way... that website I used last week needs at least 15 songs, so tell a friend to come comment. you never know.. they might dedicate a song to YOU!

y'all have till sunday night to get your votes in.... monday morning if I like you and I'm running late.

Mine would be "You and Me go fishin in the dark". I'm not sure who it's by. It reminds me of an old friend who I've lost contact with. Actually, everyone (including her parents) has lost contact with her, so the song is a bit bittersweet. I hope she is well, wherever she is! Thanks!

As Blogger.com does not like urls in their posts, it's up to you, gentle reader, to cut and paste the two partial url addresses into your browser to enjoy the Bell magic.

first to this half:

then do this half:

My Life by the Beatles

Beautiful song - reminds me of all the wonderful friends in my life

note: I heard on NPR the song is actually about a hometown, but I've always thought of it as a friendship song

to the first comment---that fishing song is by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, i believe.....

well, when I think of belting out a song w/ good friends I have 2. And just so your mix of songs is VERY diverse, I will say Baby Got Back, by Sir Mix-A-Lot. I have done the karaoke thing to that one while about 8 months preggo, and also thumped along to it while driving in a very nice subdivision while yard-saling. :-) Every time I hear it, I crank it and sing every single word.

Oh Carrie, this is so much fun! It's amazing how one song can bring back so many memories! For this one, it would have to be Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar on Me (scary! I know!) Me and my best friend from high school used to go to this dance club every Friday night in senior year, while this song was popular. We'd blast it while slabbing on the blue eyeshadow and killing the ozone with our Aquanet hairspray. Lord have mercy were those 80's ever scary!

wasn't that a time?

Lame, but "We are Family". I karaoked (sp?) it with my friends that I used to work with, the one and ONLY time I have ever done karaoke!

I have to go with Dirt Off Your Shoulder by Jay-Z... my baseball friend (who I don't actually talk to anymore) and I added that to our baseball mix first, so it's gotta be on this mix (it was the walk-up music for one of our favorites the first year that we went to baseball on a consistent basis - and we made up a dance to the chorus, yes we are that big of dorks!)

I do have to say however, that I am typically a country music girl and I've yet to pick a country song for your mixes... which surprises me big time!

Regret by New Order. He's still a good friend. We both loved this song. Ironicly, on some levels, you can make your own conclusions. :)

All For You by Sister Hazel. Aw, now I'm all nostalgic. :)

"Dancin Queen" by Abba!! This was the song that marked the pinnacle of my best friend's bachelorette party in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1997 when she was surrounded by about 10 of the coolest women on the planet, all her best friends. Today she's the mother of the Pollard Triplets but for that one night she was a dancing queen! I think of her every time I hear it.
